A word of introduction from Pastor Steve
Pastor Steve Cartin and wife, Sandra (May 2025)
Welcome to Hollow Creek Baptist Church, a place first and foremost existing to glorify God through worship and service to the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus commanded us to make disciples as we go throughout our world. Worshipping people are disciples. Disciples take the good news of Jesus everywhere they go. They care for one another while having a godly compassion for their neighbor.
My prayer, my commitment, my goal is to shine God’s Word on His holiness, on our sinfulness, and on Christ’s salvation and sufficiency so that God’s people will be equipped for building up the body of Christ. We must speak His truth in all we say, show His love in all we do, and take His gospel wherever we go.
Somehow God felt He could use me to lead His people in this direction. I responded to His call in 1986 while serving as an officer in the US Air Force and member of First Baptist Church of Parker, Florida. From there to Colorado, Texas, Oregon and back to South Carolina, He has given me opportunities to serve once as a Minister of Education, twice as a Church Planting Pastor, and now as Pastor of four established congregations.
My wife, Sandra, and I live in Graniteville and share six children and nine grandchildren and five great grandchildre, all of whom live locally in the CSRA. My favorite scripture is one of the first I preached upon, Isaiah 53.6:
“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”
As a personal mission, I’m motivated most by 2 Timothy 2.2:
“The things which you have learned and heard from me, teach to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”
Should God lead you to become a part of our fellowship, it would be my joy to know and serve alongside you here at Hollow Creek and to help you along the journey God has for you.
